Project Life 2016 ~ May 25 (Venice)

Project Life 2016

Venice

May 25
We arrived at Venice via air and got our bags at 4 PM. When I was looking for hotels in Venice, it was nearly sold out, the one that were left cost 600 -1000, I really couldn't afford this price range so I search Airbnb again, because of the Double Chinese Convention that was going on during this time, a few of my application wasn't successful, since the time was getting close, I finally picked one at Paive (taxi fare from airport to Paive costs 35 Euro), suburb of the mainland Venice, it was a disappointment, and my first bad experience with Airbnb.

Although it is more expensive than Darios' apartment in Rome, it is basically look like a hostel, this is the corridor...

the room itself didn't look that bad even though we didn't like the Chinese décor that much

what was not right is that we supposed to stay for three nights but all they gave us is a 1/4 of the toilet roll, and a piece of used, thin soap was left at the very very filthy sink...

and an used coffee cup at the desk too....YIKES!

Daisy was the owner for this property listed on Airbnb site, but she wasn't there to meet us, it was her uncle, who doesn't speak a word of English, once again I am so glad I am bi-lingual, it had help especially when I traveled.

Chinese uncle wasn't very helpful with direction but we somehow managed to asked people on the street and got ourselves tickets for buses+vaporetto (water buses), it costs 40 Euro and good for three days....

Since we still have some day light, we took bus #2 from Paive, alight at the bus terminal which is Piazzale Roma, where we catch vaporetto #2 to go to San Marco...

When we were on the bus on the way here, we got to speak to a lady from Thailand, she told us that Paive is not a very safe area, so we didn't want to go back after dark, we found a restaurant to had dinner....

I think any seafood dish in Venice would taste good...

after dinner, we took vaporetto #2 back to Piazzale Roma back to Paive....

taking the vaporetto in Venice is such a treat......

we will be back tomorrow for a full day exploring main island.

Venice looks amazing! Even the room doesn't look too bad, but the fact that there were no amenities...that is just terrible. The soap and coffee cup looks awful! But Venice and the seafood dish looks delish! ;-)

What you have been able to capture with your PL pages is amazing. The picture are clearly gorgeous, but the way you've told your story is captivating. Beautiful.

Sorry to hear your airbnb was awful. it must have felt like a rip-off. Paying for a good place and ending up with crap and dirt. Yikes. But Venice looks gorgeous; I must admit I am a bit jealous....kidding; just joking:)
