We were in Singapore this past week during the Chinese New Year period. Last day of Chinese New Year is February 14. The central district and shopping malls were all decorated. The most common thing is the mandarin orange plant because the pronunciation of the orange in Chinese Mandarin or Cantonese both sounded the same as the word "LUCK". And a lot of the plant had red ribbons because red is known to be the lucky color.
This is the first time I am back here during Chinese New Year, when the girls were younger, we can't get off school to come here in January or February, now that the girls are in college, we finally get a chance to come back home for Chinese New Year, first time in 12 years!
The Chinese family celebrate Chinese New Year with a reunion dinner on new year's eve, and we do visiting on the first 2 days of Chinese New Year, unlike China, where they celebrated Chinese New year for 15 days, in Singapore, everything is back to normal in day three, kids are back in Schools and people get back to work, however, I do get a chance to see a lot of my family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews on the last day of Chinese New Year, where some people do another reunion dinner, not common in my family but since this is the first time I am back for such family dinner in 12 years, they decided to throw a big dinner get together so I can get to see most of them whom I haven't seen for over 12 years.
Alright, so much of my Chinese New Year celebration in Singapore, let's hop over to
to see the celebration all over the world

I am loving watching the pictures come in from all over the world. Even though we have to deal with our children moving on to lives of their own, there are small blessings waiting for us. Congrats on the visit. I hope it was fun!
