City Crafter Challenge Blog Week #59 ~ Back to Basics

This week at City Crafter Challenge Blog, Ros picked a lovely inspiration photo

and a super fun theme

Back to Basics

to use paint AND cardboard on your project

fun huh?

I bought this book at thrift store 2 months ago

I was excited because I had something brewing in my mind, came home and showed it to my husband my "good find" for 50 cents, he said "Oh wow, that is a good book, I've read that and loved it"

uh oh....... hmmmmm.... should I go ahead and "ruin" this? Because what I had in mind wasn't about reading but rather uh... painting......

Well, I was going to do a Paris quote book, I started 2 pages and decided that I need to take a class and learn all the basics, so I signed up for a Mixed Media Art Course with Christy Tomlinson, I just started the class few days ago and had watched 12 out of 28 videos for week 1 assignment, but since this week's theme is calling to me so I decided to show you part of my Paris Quote Book today

before my supplies arrived, the watercolor paint is what I used as base
I also tear a piece of cardboard from all my shipping boxes and cut a heart out of it

so here is my Paris Quote Book page 3

In my heart.....

there is a room for Paris......

Since I already show you page 3, I don't mind showing you page 1 of my Paris Quote Book as well

Page 1 - "Paris is always a good idea" ~ Audrey Hepburn

most of the stuff are really bits and pieces from my "scraps mug"

and page 2 is a quote by Ernest Hemingway

"There are only two places we could live happy: at home and in Paris"

I lost all my Europe trips photos one and a half years ago when my old Macbook quit on me, so what's remain in terms of photos are really limited, they are in bad quality for prints as what I stored in my old I-phone is all I have right now.... : (

before I pick up all the things I need to learn about Mixed Media Art, the Paris Quote Book is actually a practice page for me....

I am not sure how long is going to take to finish this book, maybe a year or two, but for now, maybe you want to hop over to City Crafter Challenge Blog to see what our fabulous DT had create for you, and this week, we had a prize from Pixie Dust Paperie, hop right over and join in the fun!!!!

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous Kirsty! I have no problem destroying old books - it is repurposing or "enhancing" but my hubby doesn't get it either!

Your book is so fun, Kirsty! Creative as well as fabulous! Are you going to show it when you are finished...if it takes awhile will you please update it! My creative juices are standing by waiting for the headaches to go away! It is really difficult to sit and create when the head is pounding, I was asleep when you posted this last night. First time in a long time! Happy day to you! Sylvia
