I feel so "square"...

I made this card the other day for the challenge over at Embellish Magazine, here's the inspiration photo

When I saw those colors, I thought, wow, I love it, some of my favorite, and when I really started creating a card for that challenge, it really gets to me, oh boy, this is tough!

This is how my card turned out

I have to admit, I don't like this at all, I feel so "square", meaning, I feel rigid, like I can't get the result I really want, well, I still post it anyway and let you be the judge, maybe some suggestion so that I can improve!

  7. Kirsty, the card is perfectly balanced, which appeals to the anal-retentive in me, but if I had to make just one small suggestion it would be to put a few more of those black flourishes peeking out over the top of the butterfly square, sort of in a half circle fashion. Like the sun rising in the morning on the horizon. Sure is hard to describe what I mean. Wish I could draw you a picture!

But really it is just fine as-is, and I think you always do A+ work!

  8. I think it is very pretty, but I understand what you are saying. Sometimes when you start out knowing what you want and it doens't turn out that way it makes you feel like that. I think we all have this happen soemtimes. I know I do. :)

  9. LOL I had to check and see if Jan had commented on this card yet. She LOVES purple and green! I sympathize with you on the "square" feeling. Sometimes they just don't come out like we want them but I think you did a great job. Love the little butterfly centerpiece!
